What is the Platform for Science (PFS)?
The Platform for Science is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution enabling lab informatics. The Platform for Science is the underlying data management infrastructure designed to support workflows across your scientific organization. PFS provides the scientific community with a flexible, cost effective and secure way to collect, store, access, share, and use your scientific data.
All solutions work together on top of the Platform for Science, to support data capture across your scientific workflows. Solutions consist of apps, designed to have you up and running quickly. Changes to these solutions are made through configurations, not custom code. These changes are immediately available throughout the platform and are reflected in Core’s standards-based OData API.
Platform for Science allows scientists to perform the most simple or complex tasks, from tracking sample inventory to automating data collection for HT-ADME and physicochemical profiling. Platform for Science lets scientific organizations purchase or develop the applications they need to create a robust and integrated environment. This flexibility enables customers to meet their unique requirements, without having to pay for unnecessary services or functionality.
What Are Deployment Options for the Platform for Science?
The Platform for Science can be deployed in the cloud or on-premises. Deploying PFS in the cloud can alleviate the complications of developing and/or setting up custom on-premises systems for scientific organizations, benefits include:

What is the Platform for Science Marketplace?
The Platform for Science Marketplace (PFS Marketplace) is a rapidly expanding library of pre-built applications that enable immediate integration of multiple data sources including instruments, collaborators and third party solutions. Browse the PFS Marketplace to find apps designed to support your laboratory workflows, leveraging industry best practices to speed deployments.
Applications include configurable solution sets for scientists in Drug Discovery (small molecule and biologics), Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Biobanking laboratories. The breadth and depth of available solutions continues to expand rapidly, with new applications being added for customers in Bioprocessing, Agricultural Biotechnology (AgBio), Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and more.
How are Platform for Science Applications Created?
Many Platform for Science applications are built by the Platform for Science App Team. But, the Platform for Science Developer Portal and Core Connect can enable end users, partners, instrument vendors, and third party developers to build individually configured applications on top of the platform. All applications must be submitted to and approved by the App Team before they are made available in the Platform for Science Marketplace.
How Do I Get Platform for Science Apps?
To add the apps from the PFS Marketplace, you must be a Platform for Science customer and use version 5.1 or higher. You can get the apps by clicking the "Contact Us" button on the app page(s) that you're interested in, and your sales team contact will follow up with you. Or, you can reach out to your sales contact directly and they can provide you more info on the steps to deploy the app(s). We will work with you to ensure compatibility with your existing Platform for Science apps and workflows, and deploy the new apps for use in your lab(s).
