Oncodesign is an innovative biotechnology company founded in 1995 in Dijon, France. With 65 employees and a unique translational drug discovery research environment, they are focused on establishing alliances and partnerships to bring novel anticancer therapeutics to market. A key requirement for this partnership-based relationship is the need to establish and document activities (research sample registration, workflows and results) between groups. Before the installation of the Core LIMS, these workflows were managed by spreadsheets, emails and phone calls. Today all research workflows are managed, documented and tracked in the Core LIMS resulting in experimental turn-around times of under 1 week vs. over 2 weeks prior to the LIMS deployment. Through Core’s “triggers” all personnel are informed of needed activities, timing and project status updates. Another key benefit of the Core LIMS is the complete documentation of key instrument maintenance logs, specifically the MRI cryogenic levels (nitrogen and helium). Through the use of Core Informatics “gadgets” OncoDesign can visualize levels and ensure that instrumentation is always available for work. Another use of “gadgets” is the integration with other software programs. Onco can generate “dendrograms” to facilitated and organize project results for key inhibition experiments. This visualization enhances decision-making for effective research programs in triaging compounds and ultimately bringing new oncologics to market. All sample requests are logged into the Core LIMS and managed throughout the project.
